Mariela is a dedicated Nurse Practitioner with over 15 years of experience committed to delivering compassionate, patient-centered care. Inspired early in life by hospital shadowing experiences and a family legacy in nursing, she pursued a career in healthcare with a mission to advocate for others—especially those facing language and health literacy barriers.
As a first-generation college graduate, Texas native, and daughter of Mexican immigrant parents, Mariela brings a personal understanding of the challenges many patients encounter when navigating the healthcare system. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Texas Woman’s University and began her career in a Cardiac-Neuro Step Down Unit, later serving in an observation unit that transitioned into COVID care during the pandemic.
She went on to earn her Master of Science in Nursing from West Texas A&M University graduating in 2019 but due to the pandemic was unable to step into a Nurse Practitioner role until 2021. Her clinical experience includes Internal Medicine primary care, where she focused on chronic disease management and patient education, and palliative care, where she supported patients and families through complex and end-of-life care. These roles shaped her holistic understanding of the patient journey—from acute illness to long-term management and end of life.
Now practicing in Urology, Mariela is passionate about improving quality of life by addressing sensitive but common conditions often left untreated. She is dedicated to educating patients on available treatments and empowering them to live more comfortably and confidently.
Outside of her professional work, Mariela enjoys spending time with family, friends and her fur baby Layla. Mariela also enjoys music, cooking, gaming, and focusing on wellness through exercising, skin care and self-care. She is also involved in her church community and considers God a central part of her life.
