For Dr. Nuss, nothing is more important than establishing a strong connection with his patients. He knows that trust and communication are key to building that connection when dealing with incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, voiding problems and other urologic issues.

“It takes a lot of courage to talk with a doctor about these conditions,” he says. “I don’t take that lightly. In my practice, I understand that these can be very sensitive problems. One of the first things I tell men and women is they’re not alone. I try to understand how the problem affects them, and then recommend a solution that’s not only medically appropriate, but one that also fits their lifestyle. Treatment is never a one-size-fits-all solution. I realize it’s important for people to have direct agency and control in the way they’re treated. My patients and I work together as a team toward their well-being.”

A native of Denver, Colorado, Dr. Nuss knew he wanted to be a physician at a very young age. After earning his medical degree at Wake Forest University, he completed both his internship in surgery and residency in urology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. When he knew he would specialize in treating conditions involving reconstructive urology, he completed a fellowship at Northwestern University in Chicago.

As a founder of Urology Partners, Dr. Nuss’ love for medicine is still fueled by the opportunity to use his emotional, physical and intellectual abilities to help others heal. “My goal is always to fix a problem instead of simply putting a band-aid on it,” he says.

When he isn’t caring for patients, Dr. Nuss enjoys cooking and grilling outdoors with his wife, Caroline, at their home in Dallas. They have a golden retriever named Noah, and serve together in marriage ministry at their church. He also trains for triathlons and has competed in the Longhorn Ironman 70.3 and the Chicago and Boston Marathons.
