When Blake Neeley was in junior high school, his grandmother was diagnosed with cancer. He decided then that he wanted to dedicate his life to medicine. Science was always his favorite subject in school, so it was no surprise when he majored in biology at the University of Texas at Arlington. After he graduated, Neeley began working as a medical scribe for a urology practice. The experience gave him a unique view of urology helped him hone his medical path.
“Shadowing urologists, I saw how they balanced the surgical and clinical aspects of patient care—which I really liked,” Neeley says. “Scribing also allowed me to hear first-hand from patients about their health issues, and the difference good urologic care can make in a person’s life.”
Inspired by the experience, he decided to become a physician assistant, and earned a Master of Science in Medicine from Mississippi College in 2016 to do so.
Now a vital part of Urology Partners, Neeley is honored to work closely with patients to help improve their quality of life. “There are so many very treatable and easily fixable urologic conditions,” he says. “It’s always rewarding when patients feel comfortable talking with me. I focus on really listening to their concerns, building trust, and hopefully, resolving their health issue within a short time.”
When Neeley isn’t caring for patients, he enjoys spending time with family and friends. An avid traveler, he recently enjoyed time relaxing on the white-sand beaches of Isla Mujeres.
